YIZKOR & NEILAH SERVICE
A memorial service called Yizkor (meaning “remember”), is recited near the conclusion of Yom Kippur. It is said by every person who has lost a parent or other loved one. Two styles of service are offered: Classic in the Main Sanctuary and Contemporary in the Martin Meyer Sanctuary. A single ticket will be issued for Yizkor and Neilah services, which can be used in either location. If you have a strong preference, please plan to arrive early. Yizkor begins at 5:30 pm.
Following Yizkor is Neilah, the full name is Ne’ilat She’arim (“Closing of the Gates”), referring to the daily closing of the Temple gates in Jerusalem. On Yom Kippur this literal closing is symbolically associated with the closing of the heavenly gates, which remained open to prayer until sunset. If you wish to wait until the Yizkor service concludes you may enter either the Main Sanctuary or the Martin Meyer Sanctuary at the beginning of Neilah.

ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE
Sunday September 12, 2:00 pm; Rabbi Stephen Pearce and Cantor Rita Glassman of Congregation Sherith Israel will lead the service.
