TASHLICH

Tuesday, September 30, 5:00 pm,
Baker Beach

For centuries, Jewish communities have gathered at the shores of lakes, rivers, or oceans to throw crumbs of bread into the water on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah. This ceremony, led by Rabbi Sydney Mintz, is called Tashlich and represents a symbolic casting away of the transgressions of the past year. To get to Baker beach, go south on Arguello Boulevard. Turn right onto California Street. Turn right onto 25th Avenue. Turn right onto El Camino Del Mar. El Camino Del Mar becomes Lincoln Boulevard. Follow the signs to Baker Beach.

Dress casually (and warmly), bring some breadcrumbs, and join us for this meaningful ceremony of song and personal reflection.

Heshbon Hanefesh: A Spiritual Accounting of Ourselves and a Reflection on Our Year From the Dome to the Pacific

Join Rabbi Mintz, Rabbi Bauer and Mark Pincus for an introspective experience as we begin the work of Teshuvah-the core concept of reflection and introspection during the 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This first time program will involve interactive reflection, personal contemplation, inspiration and discussion. We will conclude with a silent meditative walk from the synagogue to the shore of the Pacific at Baker Beach, where we will cast off what we want to leave behind in the past year, and open ourselves to the potential of the new year in our Tashlich ceremony.
